Hunting for a rental that actually works for kids? Most Westside listings say "family friendly" and mean a pool and a dog run. We went looking for more than that: playgrounds, kids' swim lessons, classes, courts, resident events, real green space, or an elementary school you can walk to.
This list covers Playa Vista, Culver City, West LA, Santa Monica, Venice and Marina del Rey. For each spot you get the address, area, starting rent and the kid stuff, bulleted.
Before you tour
Rents are starting prices, not averages. They're the lowest listed rents we found on the property's listing pages in late Sept 2026. They move weekly and often skip required fees. Call before you fall in love.
Real playgrounds are rare here. Only a handful of complexes list one on site. A lot of these spots made the cut for a community club, courts, water gear or a very short walk to school.
School distances aren't boundaries. Distances come from listing sites. Check your assigned school with LAUSD's Resident School Locator, SMMUSD or CCUSD before you sign.
