Heads-up: our beloved Venice Branch Library is about to get a well‑deserved facelift! The branch officially closed this past Monday (December 29th) for renovations and is expected to reopen around April 13, 2026.
We get it—four months feels like forever when your toddler lives for story time or your big kid beelines for the graphic novels after school. Don’t panic! This pause is about making our library safer, brighter, and even more family‑friendly.
What’s happening?
Our Venice Branch just hit 30 years and after three decades of sticky fingers, sun, sea air, and thousands of families, it needs some TLC. Here’s what’s on the refresh list:
Fresh paint inside and out
Window repairs and replacements
Essential structural updates for safety and comfort
Behind‑the‑scenes fixes to make the space even more welcoming

Did you know?
The Venice Branch (and all LAPL locations) are part of the Los Angeles Public Library system, which serves the City of Los Angeles and runs over 70 branches, including Mar Vista and Playa Vista. In contrast, the Lloyd Taber-Marina del Rey Library belongs to the LA County Library system—a separate organization serving communities throughout Los Angeles County, including Marina del Rey. Each system has its own card, website, events, and e-resources. Both are open to everyone, but you may need a separate card for some digital or in-person services.
