Happy Friday!
With LAUSD still on break and not a ton happening this week, we’re switching it up. Instead of our usual full event rundown, we put together a complete guide to winter Parks & Rec classes across Venice and the Westside—arts, sports, camps, and after-school programs.
We still have a few things happening below 👇
Saturday at 11:30 am
Paws & Pages at Annenberg PetSpace is a delightful, free, weekly pet-themed storytime and craft event pairing young readers with adoptable animals, perfect for families, pet lovers, and curious learners. Each session lasts about 30 minutes and includes:
Story reading by staff, volunteers, or visiting authors using an animal‑themed children’s book.
A craft activity supporting the book’s theme.
Meet-and-greet with a featured Critter Corner ambassador (small animals) and a chance to read to adoptable dogs or cats outside their suites.
Free; though occasional drop-in fee (~$3) may apply. Guests can walk in without a ticket.

Sand berms at Washington Square Pier Area
Neighbor Spotlight
A love letter to the sand berms. Free fun, ocean views, kids flying down sandy hills, and parents camped out with snacks and sunscreen. We’ve been missing this little slice of winter joy with all the rain lately. Can’t wait for the sun to come back so we can spend the whole day out there again.
