Like so many neighborhood spots, the Venice Library was closed for a long stretch during COVID - and wow, did we miss it. For families in Venice, it was more than just a place to check out books. It was a safe, welcoming space where kids could gather, explore, and just hang out. Now that it’s back (and beautifully remodeled!), it’s better than ever.

The children’s section got a sensory refresh, with colorful new seating, tents, playful displays, and cozy corners perfect for storytime or quiet reading. And the library has stepped up its commitment to safety too - there’s a full-time security guard, and the kids’ area is off-limits to adults who aren’t with a child. Last time we visited, even LAPD officers were chatting with the librarians - it's clear this place is well-loved and well-watched over.

There’s something special about the Venice Library. It’s not just the books or the crafts - it’s the sense of community, the welcome you feel when you walk through the doors, and the way it makes kids feel seen. Plus, the summer events are free, easy to access, and designed with real families in mind.
